Mr Tanner, who has resided in Hong Kong since 1996, has two degrees in telecommunications and has been covering the Asia-Pacific telecoms industry for ten years. He is also a judge for the annual Telecom Asia magazine awards as well as the GSM Association awards. Mr Tanner has covered a myriad of technologies, from core networks to broadband access technologies, from 2G/3G cellular to satellites, from LANs to WANs, and from legacy networks to NGN. Mr Tanner has also written several articles covering telecoms/IT security issues such as encryption, viruses, and spam, and content issues such as IPTV, DRM and adult services. Prior to covering Asian telecoms, Mr Tanner worked for six years in the US radio industry in various technical and advisory capacities, to include radio and satellite equipment maintenance, studio networking, news writing, and production, the latter of which earned him several regional and national awards. |
