IPTV World Forum Delivers Premier Global IPTV Event

The third annual IPTV World Forum, held on 5-7 March 2007 in Olympia, London was once again the premier event in the IPTV calendar, and delivered a stellar line-up of speakers and exhibitors for over 4,000 visitors attending the three-day event (www.iptv-forum.com).

The event is the flagship in the IPTV World Series, organised worldwide by Junction Limited, the leading digital media events specialist, and offered delegates more than double the number of exhibitors and potential clients compared to 2006.

The first day of the conference included presentations by Eric Abensur, VP Broadband for Orange UK, who appraised the prospect of Digital TV from Orange in the UK; Gary Schultz, President/ Principal Analyst for MRG Inc., who gave an overview of the IPTV market, and Paul Berriman, Head of Marketing Strategies for PCCW, who delivered a presentation on IPTV marketing strategies for sustained growth.

Speakers on the second day of the conference included Richard Griffiths, CTO for BT Vision, who discussed how to overcome the challenges of delivering high-quality television over IP networks, and David Price, VP Product Marketing & Marketing Communications, Harmonic Inc., whose presentation was entitled “Second Generation HD: A Real Opportunity for IPTV Operators”.

The third day of the conference was chaired by Christine Heckart, General Manager of Marketing for Microsoft TV, and opened with a keynote speech by Anders Bergtoft, Director of Content and Media for Ericsson, covering how to make an evolved TV experience available both at home and on the move. Attila J. Gazdag, Managing Director of Walt Disney Internet Group Europe, outlined Disney’s multi-platform content strategy later in the third day, amongst other presentations.

IPTV World Forum also hosted the debut IPTV World Series Awards ceremony, held in recognition of the very best in IPTV solutions, as judged by a panel of independent judges taken from the industry’s leading publications.  The judges selected Quative Ltd, Ruckus Wireless, TANDBERG Television, Advanced Digital Broadcast S.A. and Verimatrix Inc. as category winners for their respective offerings.

Over 120 exhibitors created a much larger exhibition zone for IPTV World Forum 2007, and included stands by companies from other events in the IPTV World Series, as well as the Tech Demo Zone, where firms provided practical IPTV demonstrations and workshops.  Companies exhibiting included Harmonic, ADB, Harris, Alcatel-Lucent, Microsoft, Siemens, Ericsson, Amino, TANDBERG Television, Irdeto, Nortel, Thomson, NDS and Omnibus.

IPTV World Forum is part of the IPTV World Series (www.iptvworldseries.com), which is a collection of market leading IPTV conferences and exhibitions that focus on the key marketing, business and technology challenges facing IPTV service providers.

Junction Group, the producers of IPTV World Forum, specialise in creating high-quality networking events, conferences and exhibitions within the digital media sector, and are rapidly becoming market leaders.

Planning is already underway for next year’s IPTV World Forum show, which will be held on 3-5 March 2008 in Olympia, London, and will also incorporate the Mobile TV and ITV Ads events.
